Make Your Own Havaianas 2017 pays homage to the 90’s!

I think the ’90s is the best decade in my lifetime. It was on the ’90’s when we saw the birth of an invention that changed all of our lives forever; from Walkman to that familiar sound of the dial-up Internet, mIRC and hot mails. It was a crucial crossroad of time when the world shifted from analog to digital. A great decade where we learn to hope and take those baby steps to lay the foundation of the technology that we enjoyed today. Photos and games were in 8-bit but we are sure that it’s just the start of something revolutionary, a defining moment of humanity.

In celebration of the great decade of the ’90s, Havaianas offers commemorative pairs and pins in Make You Own Havaianas 2017 (MYOH 2017)

This year’s commemorative pair comes in a classic black sole with pixels, inspired by the 8-bit video games that defined the decade.
Look who got his pair. 🙂

With other Cebu Bloggers Society members.

The ’90s-themed pins are choices of throwback icons of a TV, cassette tape, boom box, and a video game icon. There’s a pin that simply says “I ❤ 90s”. Glow-in-the-dark pins are also available for the star gazers. It come in five super fun designs: a lightning bolt, smiley, star, and lips.

In Cebu, this year’s MYOH will have two legs. Head to All Flip-Flops Ayala Center Cebu on June 9 to 12 and All Flip-Flops SM Seaside City on June 15 to 18.

Follow Havaianas Philippines on Facebook and @havaianasphils on Twitter and Instagram for updates on #MYOH2017. Plan your masterpiece ahead by mixing and matching different combos at myoh.havaianasphilippines.com.
For the first time ever, Havaianas makes use of 3D printing technology that can print pins before your eyes.

Plus63 Music Festival with Steve Aoki Live in Sinulog 2017

Sinulog is the best time to party in Cebu. Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is making a surge into the mainstream and Cebuanos are in the forefront in making signature festivals in the country. Music Festival has exploded in numbers and the number of attendees just keep on growing. Everyone seems just wanna let their hair down to the beat of the drums and sway to the ebb and flow of the music. All are friends. No worries, No pretensions, No pressure, Just fun.

With so many street parties and music festivals within the City, the process of choosing from so many options can sometimes be daunting, if not, debilitating. (Oppps, that sounds like a hugot line. Hehehe) On our part, there is one emerging music festival that we have been anticipating since it’s first run last year. Plus63 Music Festival has not only captured our curiosity but it also awestruck partygoers with topnotch international DJs like Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia, spot on premium sound quality and impressive digitally programed fireworks.

Last year, we didn’t know we were in for a big surprise as we enter the venue. The security was tight and very well managed. It was like entering to a themed park. The crowd moved freely and was wild (in a good way). When it was Steve Angello’s turn, the stage dazzled with fireworks but most importantly the sound inadvertently made us goose bumps. It was because of these aspects that we can definitely say this is the music festival to watch out for in the Philippines.

On its second installment, Plus63 Music Festival continues its unique and very creative fusion of high caliber international and local musical acts with a curated culinary experience on the side on Saturday and Sunday, January 14-15, 2016, 4pm onwards at the Cebu Business Park.

This year, Plus63 Music Festival will be headlined by DJ Mag’s No. 7 DJ in the world, Steve Aoki!
Are you ready for the Cake Face?

Taking inspiration from the Coachella and Lollapalooza festivals (and other similar festivals around the world), Plus63 Music Festival seeks to bring the best from these events for participants to experience, while giving it a local twist and enhancing it even more with the best of the Philippines’ hospitality and cuisine.

On Sinulog Sunday, Plus63 Music Festival will be headlined by the Philippines’ pride, DJ Ace Ramos.

5 Reasons of My Pleasant Stay at Novotel During Blogapalooza

  1. Location, Location, Location.

Located in the heart of Araneta Center, the hotel is in the center of sprawling stores and business establishments in Quezon City. A leisure walk could lead you to Gateway Mall for shopping, dining and movie experience. It is right beside Araneta Coliseum where most of the big concerts and sports events are held. Transportation is accessible: it is 5 minutes away from the nearest train station and taxis, uber and grabcar rides are just a few click away.

  1. New, Contemporary, Clean and Stylish.

My first impression of my room at the 7th floor was not only that it induces intimacy with its glass-walled shower room but also it is designed with comfort in mind. The clean contemporary design provides a practical turn of modern interiors to save space for maximum mobility. The bright room creates an atmosphere conducive to creativity and innovation.

Novotel Lobby

  1. Wide ranging selection Breakfast Buffet.

Breakfast is a must at Novotel. You should not skip it. Our breakfast is served at the Food Exchange located at the ground floor of the hotel. It was a wide ranging selection of different cuisines namely, Filipino, Italian, American, Korean and Chinese dishes are served. Their pressed coffee did not fail to perk me up to be ready for the day ahead of me.

Food Exchange

My Breakfast Plate at Novotel’s Food Exchange

  1. Pool and Activity Center.

Just a floor below where I was staying, at the 6th floor, the gym, swimming pool and tent activity center is located. This was the venue of Blogapalooza. There is also a poolside bar at the swimming pool area. The garden offer a green distraction of the bustling metropolis.

Blogapalooza Venue

  1. Miss Universe sightings. Oh, one more thing. On our way down to the ground floor, guess who we met? No other than, Ms. Stella Márquez Zawadski-Araneta herself. Novotel is the home of the Miss Universe – Philippines. This is where most of the Binibining Pilipinas winners will stay when they are in the City. You’ll never know who you will ride next with inside the elevator. It wouldn’t be impossible to see Pia Wurtzbach here.

Bollywood Tandoor and Curry On!

At the foot of the Banilad-Talamban flyover, there is a thriving Indian community of students and some businessmen that inspires many establishments within the vicinity to cater to their needs. Bollywood Tandoor is one of those that aspire to serve them and the Cebuanos with authentic Indian food and entertainment.

Media and the Bloggers at Bollywood Tandoor

Named after one of the biggest film industry in Asia that has produced several good and award winning films that even appeal to the tastes of the Filipinos (my personal favorites are: “3 Idiots”, “PK”, and “My Name is Khan”), Bollywood Tandoor embodied the international flare of Indian culture and the curious and explorative taste buds of Cebuanos. It serves Northern Indian food and other popular Indian dishes using original ingredients and sprices and traditional method of preparation. It even has to fly in some chefs and cooks from India and Dubai just to ensure that it only serves authentic Indian food.

Bollywood Tandoor

A week ago, Bollywood Tandoor proprietor, Soni Vasnani, invited us to dine at their restaurant to celebrate in advance the Indian Independence Day to be celebrated on August 15 in India. Soni is not new to the business. He has worked in a restaurant since he was 15 years old. He has travelled the world and cooked for several peoples. In Cebu, he has been here for 12 years. His most successful venture before Bollywood Tandoor is Mr. India in Countrymall.

The place is not difficult to find as is just by the road near the flyover. Ample parking spaces are available for diners.

Bollywood Tandoor Main Dining Area

One of the function room of Bollywood Tandoor

As you enter, you know that you are in for a big feast as several air-conditioned themed function rooms that can accommodate the whole board or office. The restaurant can serve up to 200 pax dining together at a time. It is not the typical Indian Restaurant that we may already get used to. It is clean, huge and inodorous. The spices are fragrant and can be adjusted according to your liking.

Some of the food served to us during the event:

My personal favorite was the TDF (to die for) Pork Curry. Too bad, they run out of mutton that day. I would have liked it too. Unfortunately for me, it was sold out during lunch to a big group of Indian students.

Bollywood Tandoor also offers live Belly Dance Show every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 to 10:00 PM.

Make Your Own Havaianas 2016 – Cebu

It’s the beach season once again and everyone is scrambling to different islands and water destinations like a heated atom—there is really something in the heat that excites our core.

Before hitting to the beach check out the most an anticipated customization event in the country, Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH). What better accessories to go with that white sand than a mighty and trendy glammed-up  flip-flop? From April 22 to May 1, celebrate your uniqueness, self-expression  and creativity as you customize your own pair of Havaianas inside All Flip Flops SM Seaside City at the lower ground floor of the mall’s Mountain Wing.

This year MYOH highlights the heritage of Japan, a country very known to Havaianas, with the limited edition commemorative sole inspired by Shibori, a Japanese fabric-dyeing technique, to its selection of kawaii pins. The very first pair of Havaianas in 1962 was actually inspired by the Zori, a type of Japanese sandal made of fabric straps and rice straw roles.

Japan is one of the most fascinating countries to visit regardless of season. Most filipinos especially Cebuanos, including me, aspire to have a grand vacation in the land of the rising sun. I even have a postponed Sakura trip to Japan this year.  Sad.

The Sakura, Ramen, The Japanese Fan, The Empress, The Zori and Ninja are some of Japan’s iconic symbols of culture and heritage. MYOH offers these icons to  celebrate the love for travel and the Japanese’ unique lifestyle and influence on today’s pop culture.

Get your own customized pair and don’t forget to celebrate your design by sharing it on your social media accounts with the official hashtag #MYOHCEBU2016 and #MYOH2016.
